  • Green Building Fund: Awarded $500,000 grant from AusIndustry

    Situation
    AusIndustry introduced Green Building Fund which aims to reduce the impact of Australia's built environment on green house gas emissions, by reducing the energy consumed in the operation of existing commercial office buildings. The grant targets owners of existing commercial office buildings. It supports them to reduce their energy consumption, by retro-fitting and retro-commissioning of these buildings. Grants ranging from $50,000 to $500,000 are available, for up to 50% of project costs. Our client was considering upgrade of building management system for a commercial office building.

    Task
    We were managing the upgrade of building management system project with energy management and conservation, as its core focus. We were given the task to complete the Green Building Fund Application for the project.

    Action
    1. Green Building Fund Application Criteria was studied
    2. The building energy consumption & control sequences were reviewed
    3. nbsp;Energy consumption comparisons were made to other similar building
    4. nbsp;A detailed submissions was put forward to AusIndustry


    Result
    1. $500,000 (maximum limit for one project) grant was awarded to the project
    2. The grant covered over 35% of project funding in current economic climate





  • Building Power Supply Monitoring & Control System Upgrade: Successfully delivered project within 1/3rd of budgeted price.

    Situation
    The building power supply control & monitoring system computer developed a major fault.

    Task
    We were asked to review the control system within an allocated budget.

    Action
    1. A review of system identified the need for rationalising the existing system architecture
    2. We prepared a scope of works covering for above item
    3. Service providers were invited to submit their offer
    4. Lowest cost service provider capability was reviewed and recommended for acceptance


    Result

    We restored the system at 1/3 rd of allocated budget.





  • Fire System Upgrade: Successfully delivered project within 1/3rd of budgeted price.

    Situation
    The building fire system was old and was considered at the end of its economic life-cycle.

    Task
    We were asked to upgrade the fire system within an allocated budget.

    Action
    1. A review of system identified the need for replacement of both panel and detection devices
    2. We prepared a scope of works covering for above item
    3. Three service providers were invited to submit their offer
    4. Lowest cost service provider capability was reviewed and recommended for acceptance


    Result

    We re-instated the new fire system at 1/3 rd of allocated budget.





  • Closed Circuit Television System: Replacethe existing system with new design without compromising on costs



    Situation
    1. Our client had  issues with the existing video recording system with over 100 cameras
    2.  Current maintenance contractor proposed replacement of DVRs with another brand

    Task
    We were asked to design and manage the upgrade of new CCTV system.

    Action
    1. A review of system identified the need for rationalising the system architecture
    2. We prepared a scope of works by using server based solution
    3. Service providers were invited to submit their offer
    4. Lowest cost service provider capability was reviewed and recommended for acceptance


    Result
    1. We ended up enhancing the system architecture which will provide benefits such as – capital protection, comparable costs to replicating existing design, modular, better cable management and supported by number of service providers in the market
